A Latin American travel specialist

I built a WordPress website for a travel specialist creating individual journeys across Latin America and Antarctica. The supplied design used large imagery and editorial content to introduce places, with destination information and enquiries providing the practical next steps.

The site needed to work for people who already had a country in mind and people who were still exploring. A destination list can help the first group, while a map provides a different way into the same collection of places.

More than one way to explore

The destination area provides both list and map views. Individual destination pages give the content more room, while journal articles introduce subjects and experiences that do not fit neatly into a single country listing.

The development work was about keeping those routes connected. Imagery introduces a place, the destination and editorial pages provide context, and a planning enquiry gives the visitor somewhere to take an idea. The website supports the start of a conversation about a tailored trip.

Building around the content

I implemented the website from the supplied visual direction, bringing the layouts, destination content and enquiry routes into WordPress. The journal sits within that same experience, rather than feeling like a separate publication attached at the end.

It is a project with a simple aim for the visitor: explore the possibilities, find enough detail to form an idea, and contact someone who can help plan it. The work behind that involves several kinds of content behaving consistently across the site.
