I developed the website for an American landscape architecture practice working internationally. The build followed supplied brand and website designs, with a portfolio spanning places such as resorts, urban spaces, campuses and cultural projects.
The content needed more flexibility than a simple image grid. A project could require a large gallery, a longer explanation or information about its location. Alongside that work, the practice also needed room for its services, offices and editorial content.
Giving different projects enough space
I built the WordPress layouts to support detailed case studies and project galleries, with flexible sections for longer pages. That allowed the content to follow the project instead of forcing every example into the same short description.
Regional information and global office content sit alongside the work. The wider site also explains the practice’s planning, urban design and landscape architecture services. Those different content types needed a consistent presentation while retaining their own purpose.
A website the team could maintain
The build included editable content areas for the team to manage its work and articles. New material could be added within the existing structure, using the same layouts and visual language across the site.
This project brought together two sides of development that I enjoy: careful implementation of a strong supplied design, and the underlying organisation needed for a substantial portfolio. My role was the website build, including the page layouts, galleries and content structure.
