Brand and website design concept

November 2025

Aurora Initiative

Aurora Initiative is a brand and website design concept based on a brief for an international climate programme. The imagined organisation connects research, data, technology and community participation around the challenges of extreme weather and climate change.

I explored how that broad subject could become a clear identity and an accessible digital resource. The website direction brings together research, datasets, tools and information for different audiences, with a structure intended to help visitors find a useful way into a complex topic.

Goal

Translate a substantial climate-research brief into an understandable brand and information structure. The design needed to help researchers, communities and decision makers find relevant resources and understand how the programme’s different areas fit together.

Tone

Authoritative and accessible, with scientific clarity and a sense of shared responsibility. Clear typography, approachable layouts and straightforward navigation support the subject’s seriousness while inviting people with different levels of knowledge to explore it.

Logo Design

The circular mark combines a landscape motif with a striped treatment. It gives the climate-research concept a recognisable symbol that can be used alongside the name or on its own.

Website Design

The website designs organise datasets, tools, case studies and resources into distinct sections. Clear headings and navigation help different audiences find relevant material, while photography provides context for the environmental subjects being discussed.

Branding

The visual system combines the landscape mark, a restrained colour palette and clear editorial typography. These elements connect the research-led website with the wider identity and publication concepts.

The branding is intended to work across detailed information pages and shorter public-facing materials, keeping the programme recognisable as the amount and type of content changes.
