Harbour Roastery

A long-established independent coffee roaster on the Suffolk coast needed a complete brand refresh and modern website to support the next stage of its growth. Having spent over 15 years building a loyal local customer base, the business faced increasing competition from newer speciality coffee brands with stronger visual identities and better digital experiences.

Goal

**The primary objective was to reposition Harbour Roastery as a modern, independent coffee brand** while remaining grounded in the values that had helped build its reputation.

The new identity needed to appeal to both local customers visiting the roastery and a growing online audience looking for high-quality speciality coffee. Alongside the visual refresh, the website needed to better communicate the brand story, improve product presentation and create a stronger foundation for future online sales.

Tone

The visual direction was built around warmth, simplicity and authenticity.

Rather than following short-lived coffee industry trends, the aim was to create something timeless and approachable. The brand needed to feel confident without becoming corporate, premium without feeling exclusive, and modern without losing the character of an independent coastal business.

Natural textures, restrained typography and a carefully balanced colour palette helped create a visual language that reflected both craft coffee and coastal living.

Logo Design

**The logo was developed around elements that reflected the local environment and Harbour Roastery’s connection to the Suffolk coastline.**

Custom typography was refined to create a softer, more welcoming identity while maintaining enough structure to feel established and trustworthy. Supporting iconography drew inspiration from the local harbour and lighthouse, creating a visual connection between the brand and its surroundings.

The result is a distinctive identity that feels equally at home on packaging, signage, digital platforms and printed materials.

Website Design

The website was designed to extend the brand experience into a digital environment.

Drawing from the coastal palette and visual language established through the branding process, the design **combines clean layouts, strong imagery and clear content hierarchy** to communicate both the quality of the coffee and the character of the business.

Product information, brand storytelling and key customer information were given equal importance, helping visitors quickly understand what makes Harbour Roastery different while encouraging further exploration of the brand.

**The overall experience was designed to feel calm, welcoming and considered, mirroring the atmosphere customers would expect from the roastery itself.**
