WordPress Development
Powerful WordPress Websites
I build WordPress websites with Timber and Twig to create solid, modular architecture.
The result is a site that’s structured properly, not just a tangle of templates and plugins.
Each component is clean, reusable, and easy to maintain.
I’ve built WordPress websites for clients all over the world including Japan, South America, France, Germany, Switzerland, the USA and for local businesses here in the UK.
Projects have ranged from large scale systems for government and global travel agencies to smaller sites for garages, manufacturers, and recruitment firms.
Eco Mode Technology
One of the most interesting challenges I’ve worked on is an Eco Mode system that reduces website payloads to as low as 42KB.
Eco Mode uses system fonts, stripped-down functionality, and lower-quality or monochrome imagery.
It automatically switches to a darker theme and limits CPU usage while maintaining full access to content. The result is a site that remains completely functional but can run almost idle on the user’s device.
It’s designed to load fast even under poor cellular conditions while reducing energy use. Users can switch to Full Power Mode anytime to restore full interactivity and visual fidelity.
eCommerce
I’ve developed WooCommerce stores with bespoke functionality tailored to businesses.
Features have included cameo products, custom filters, colour selectors, and subscription models and much more.
I’ve also had the additional delight in working in Magento to build full eCommerce websites, sometimes using WordPress as a brochure site and using Magento has a heavy-weight system to power eCommerce needs.
Bespoke
WordPress can go far beyond traditional templates. I’ve built custom calculators (pricing, area, and volume), advanced filtering systems, and no-reload websites powered by fully custom JavaScript frameworks.
I’ve also worked extensively with the WordPress REST API, integrating external systems and building internal tools that extend WordPress far beyond its defaults.
In some projects, I’ve integrated Mapbox for travel and location-based platforms, creating interactive map data visualisations.
In others like projects in Japan I’ve built highly bespoke workflows inside WordPress, tailored to specific client processes and languages.
Additionally I’ve worked on other functionaltiies like a custom automated translation tool that can quickly translate websites without the use of WPML.
